Watford MP Dean Russell was delighted to nominate and invite Hayley Yendell, Headteacher from Oxhey Early Years Centre, to join him at 10 Downing St to celebrate Childcare Champions form across the country.
Having visited the Oxhey Early Years Centre to cut the ribbon on their fantastic new garden and play area, Dean was really impressed with the facility and how happy the children were. It is a fantastic example of a well-run childcare facility where the children come first and their well-being prioritised.
Following the event, Dean said, ‘I was delighted to nominate Hayley to represent Oxhey Early Years Day Centre at Number 10. She leads a very busy and hard working team who provide inspirational leadership and brilliant opportunities for many younger children. It was great to meet people from across the UK who are providing outstanding childcare opportunities. I was pleased to introduce Hayley to David Johnston OBE MP who is the Minister for Children, Families and Wellbeing who thanked her for her hard work on behalf of the Government’.
Hayley said ‘I wanted to take a moment to express my sincerest gratitude for inviting me to Tuesday's event. It truly was a fabulous evening!
David Johnston's address and words of thanks resonated deeply with me, especially as a member of the often overlooked group of community carers. It meant a great deal to hear the work of maintained Nursery Schools acknowledged.
I am incredibly grateful for the generosity you showed in taking time to show me the Houses of Parliament. The tour was absolutely fascinating. Your insights into the magnificent building, as well as the traditions, routines, and rituals of government operations, provided me with a deeper understanding and appreciation for our political system.
Thank you once again for including me in such a special event. I am truly grateful for the experience and for your kindness’.
