Watford MP Dean Russell was invited to attend The National Peace Symposium, a key event for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The event was held at Baitul Futuh Mosque, the largest mosque in Western Europe and this year marks the 19th symposium to date.
The theme for this year's peace symposium is 'The Foundations for True Peace'. The event promotes a deeper understanding of Islam and other faiths and seeks to inspire a concerted effort for lasting peace. More than 800 guests from across the world attended the unique event including parliamentarians, diplomats, faith and civic leaders as well as representatives from numerous charities and faith communities.
The keynote address was delivered by His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community. He leads the global community that is now established in over 213 countries with tens of millions of members worldwide. Dean was invited to attend by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Watford.
Dean said that “It was an honour to attend this year’s National Peace Symposium, it was such a well-attended event, and I am grateful that I was able to join people from all over the world who came together to mark this event.”
