The Tamil Union of Herts organised a hugely successful fundraising lunch to support it’s vital work in helping the Tamil people affected by the tragic events in Sri Lanka. Dean is a long term supporter of the group and was delighted to speak at the event.
The Union was established in 1983 in response to the violence in Sri Lanka, which resulted in the sad loss of Tamil lives and the displacement of many to other parts of the world. Since then, the association has been providing essential aid to the Tamil people, including food, clothing, and financial support through various fundraising events such as barbecues, food festivals, religious celebrations, and cultural shows.
In addition to its humanitarian efforts, the Union also serves as the parent body of the Herts Tamil School Trust which is dedicated to teaching Tamil language and promoting cultural activities such as music, dance, and traditional instruments.
The fundraising lunch was filled with music, karaoke, and dancing, as supporters came together to show their support towards the Tamil community.
Following the event, Dean said “I am so pleased to be here today supporting the the Tamil Union of Hertfordshire. The organisers put together a wonderful afternoon and it was a pleasure to join them.”
