Dean Russell MP joined Mencap Watford at their Coronation Picnic to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.
Watford Mencap works with people with learning disabilities, their families and carers. Dean joined the celebrations at their Nascot Lawn site and spoke with some of the service users before he was the main judge to choose two of the best dressed.
There were lots of activities for everyone to get involved in, including face painting, raffle and a royal inspired quiz.
Dean also helped plant a rose to mark the coronation which he hopes to re-visit to see it grow.
Mencap create a welcoming environment, encouraging people with a learning disability to lead the life they want for themselves and have the right to enjoy equal opportunities and be valued as members of society. Watford Mencap currently has a service user and carer base of 800 people.
Dean has joined Mencap Watford on a number of occasions as they take part in activities across the County, including the recent 10k race at Cassiobury Park.
After the celebrations Dean said, “It is always a pleasure to join Watford Mencap as they bring the community together to support those with learning disabilities. Their tireless work which provides services to hundreds of children, young people, and adults with learning disabilities is so important not just to the service users, but also to their families and support systems.”
