Recently I met with both London Northwestern Railway and Network Rail who acknowledged that the recent service to and from London Euston has not been good enough.
London Northwestern Railway will be increasing capacity on services from 2nd June, but as I made clear, running a reliable service is more important that increasing passenger numbers.
Many of the recent issues have been caused by infrastructure failures, responsibility for which lies with Network Rail. These failures have caused countless issues in recent weeks and months, and I made clear that passengers need a rail service that they can rely on.
I am pleased that since our call, Network Rail has formulated a plan called the ‘First 60 Miles’ to identify and overcome infrastructure
issues on the first 60 miles in and out of London Euston.
This long-term plan is already underway and passengers should see a tangible difference in how reliable their trains are soon. I will continue to hold London Northwestern Railway and Network Rail to account to ensure a fair deal for Watford commuters.
