Olena Zelenska received a standing ovation as she arrived to give the speech in a parliamentary committee room.
The Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, introduced Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska, to both MPs and peers in Westminster this week. Sir Hoyle said it was parliamentarians' duty to 'keep the world awake' to the horrors of Russia's invasion as he praised her 'bravery'. Members from across the House were in attendance.
The UK Government continued to show its commitment and steadfast support as it urged the international community to stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine.
The First Lady visited the UK and addressed Parliament on 29th November 2022 to highlight the plight of the Ukrainian people and reinforced the UK’s commitment to stand with Ukraine.
