Local MP Dean Russell attended the Ramanavami celebrations at Bhaktivedanta Manor.
Ramanavami celebrates the birth the Lord Rama, hailed by Hindus all over the world as a form of God who was the perfect king and perfect husband. Lord Rama's teachings of leadership, honour, devotion and selfless action found in the epic Ramayan is a core aspect of South Asian spirituality.
Bhaktivedanta Manor is the largest UK centre of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and spreads the teachings of the authentic Vedic scriptures.
Bhaktivedanta Manor was established in 1973 by His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The estate was donated to ISKCON by the late Beatle, George Harrison.
Speaking after the event Dean Russell MP said “It was a wonderful afternoon, and an honour to be invited to take part in these fantastic celebrations. I have visited Bhaktivedanta Manor on numerous occasions, and it is always a pleasure to return. They always offer such a warm and friendly welcome.”
