Local Watford MP Dean Russell visited Watford Mencap Children's Centre on Langley Road. Located on the former Nascot Lawn site, the centre provides services to children and young people, with learning disabilities. Their work is rooted in the belief that people with a learning disability have the right to enjoy equal opportunities and be valued as members of society, enabling them to lead the life they want for themselves. Watford Mencap currently has a service user and carer base of 800 people.
Following the visit Dean said “It was fantastic to visit Watford Mencap in their new home today. I got to see their Easter playscheme up and running and everybody was having a great time which was really nice to see.
"Mencap is a charity I admire greatly as not only do they provide much-needed support to those with learning disabilities, but also their carers who are often the unsung heroes in the background who also need support and some respite from their daily duties.
"I’d like to thank all of the staff that work so hard to provide a safe, nurturing, and caring environment."
Watford Mencap also offer a variety of opportunities for individuals and businesses through volunteering, fundraising and a range of events. You can find out more here: https://watfordmencap.org.uk/get_involved/
