The Home Secretary Priti Patel MP visited Hertfordshire Constabulary HQ in Welwyn Garden City to meet some of their new police officer recruits and aspiring Police Dog Vinny.
The Home Secretary was joined by Hertfordshire MPs including Dean Russell, and Police and Crime Commissioner David Lloyd.
Following her meeting with the police, Priti Patel travelled to Watford to meet with local residents where she took part in a Q+A session. She answered questions on the UK’s point-based immigration system, the need to combat trafficking gangs and illegal migration and rising tensions in Ukraine.
She also discussed her journey from a backbench MP to holding the title of Home Secretary, the first Asian woman to do so.
Following the Home Secretary’s visit Dean Russell said “It was an honour to welcome Priti Patel, and I am grateful to her for speaking so frankly when answering questions about the more challenging aspects of her Home Office portfolio. It was great to also get the opportunity to speak to her about local policing issues such as anti-social behaviour and county lines.”
