Watford’s MP has welcomed the announcement that West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has realised its ‘teaching hospital’ ambition and from 1 December 2021 is now called West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
In recognition of the importance of this change the Trust will work with University College London’s medical school to appoint a new non-executive director to join their board with special responsibility for teaching and education.
The Chief Executive of the Trust said “Gaining ‘teaching hospital’ status reflects the dedicated work of many teams and individuals who have set the standard for delivering high quality training, learning and education at all levels of the workforce” and went onto thank Dean Russell MP for “endorsement and support of our application.”
Mr Russell said “I was delighted to support the application, and I am really pleased that the Trust has been awarded teaching status. The Trust has a wide and well-renowned role in educating doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.”
