Dean Russell MP attended the Watford FC Community Trust’s Step Up Challenge at Vicarage Road to help to raise money for Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust.
Step Up is a stair climbing challenge that takes place annually at Watford FC’s stadium, Vicarage Road. Hundreds of participants starting from the age of 6 take on the challenge of climbing the stands, clocking up 1750 steps over 102 floors, which is the equivalent of climbing up and down the Empire State Building. Participants were invited to sign up online and to raise money through sponsorship, and all received a medal upon completion.
While he was there, Dean did an announcement on the tannoy to start the race and had the opportunity to talk to some of the amazing participants, volunteers, and other invited guests, including Watford FC legend Luther Blissett.
After attending this great event, Dean said “I enjoyed attending the Step-Up Challenge today. It is a great challenge for a great cause, and I am pleased that we were able to raise so much money to go towards the great work that Watford FC does in our town. Watford FC is so much more than a football club. They are an integral part of our town and I was delighted to be able to support their Community Sports and Education Trust today.”
