The people of Watford have shown great compassion and generosity in opening up their hearts and homes to those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine and donating food and supplies to the most vulnerable in our community.
As we watch the horror of the 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria and subsequent aftershocks, I know our community will rally together as we have done before to help in any way we can. I therefore asked the Foreign Secretary what routes of support there are for the people affected. As the Minister raised, constituents can support here:

I am proud the UK will immediately deploy emergency response teams to the Republic of Türkiye to assist rescue efforts on the ground, including a team of search and rescue specialists, equipment and rescue dogs. The team have specialist search equipment, including seismic listening devices, concrete cutting and breaking equipment, propping and shoring tools.
In north-west Syria, the UK-aid funded White Helmets have activated a significant search and rescue response and mobilised all their resources to respond to emerging needs.
My thoughts are with all those affected and I pay tribute to the brave first responders working to save lives.
