Cate Simmonds was born on the 22nd August 1923 in Ireland and was one of ten children. According to the National Office of Statistics, Cate is one of only 15,120 centenarians in the UK. Just 0.02% of the population reach this landmark age.
In 1949, Cate moved to Hertfordshire to work as a nurse at Leavesden Hospital, and remained there until she retired in 1980.
Cate is a long term Watford supporter, and was delighted that Luther Blisett OBE could join the celebrations! The sun was shining, there was a beautiful cake and Dean really enjoyed getting to know Cate and her family.
