Dean Russell MP is delighted that a new milestone has been achieved in delivering a new state-of-the-art hospital for the town. After years of relentless campaigning, planning permission was granted last night, marking a significant step forward in the transformation of healthcare services in Watford.
Dean Russell MP stated, "I am thrilled to learn that planning permission has been granted for the new hospital in Watford, marking a momentous achievement in our long-standing campaign. Earlier this year, we received a full funding commitment, setting the stage for an exciting new era in healthcare for our community."
The move towards securing this critical infrastructure began with Dean’s firm commitment to the healthcare needs of Watford, which started out when he volunteered at Watford General Hospital, shortly after becoming elected. Witnessing the unwavering dedication and resilience of the hospital staff during those challenging times left a real impact on him.
Subsequently, Dean embarked on a series of meetings and visits with government ministers, passionately advocating for increased funding for Watford General Hospital. His advocacy led to Watford General becoming a prominent focus within the Government's New Hospital Programme, emphasising the urgent need for enhanced facilities and resources.
The full funding commitment now paves the way for the construction of a state-of-the-art hospital, equipped with advanced technologies, increased capacity, and comprehensive healthcare services that cater to the diverse needs of the community. The funding will also extend to significant improvements at the Trust's other sites in Hemel and St Albans, ensuring that each site has a distinct and vital role in healthcare provision.
Dean extends his sincere thanks to everyone who supported the campaign and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to seeing the hospital project through to its completion.
He said, "I am immensely proud of the progress that has been made so far, and I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone who has been part of our campaign. I want to assure our community that I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the hospital is delivered on time and that our community receives the world-class healthcare it deserves."
The planning permission approval represents a significant triumph for the people of Watford and underscores Dean’s dedication to improving healthcare services for his constituents.
