Sadly, too many lives are lost to suicide. For an individual to feel as though there is no hope in their situation is heart-breaking and Dean has been campaigning for better mental health provision for a number of years.
He recently joined colleague Mark Fletcher MP to meet with Minister Robert Halfon MP to discuss Callum Dineen's campaign to improve information sharing at universities, in the memory of his friend Theo who sadly took his own life. It is a profoundly painful experience to lose a loved one to suicide and Dean commend's Callum for his determination and courage to pursue this important change.
In October 2022, Universities UK published guidance on information sharing, which Callum has been campaigning for the government to endorse and advise universities to adopt. The Minister confirmed that he will commission a National Review of Higher Education Suicides with a view to forming future policies in this area.
