Cheska Tyler from Cherry Tree Primary School and Michael Jones from Parmiters School were nominated by Dean Russell MP to attend a reception at Number 10 celebrating ‘Education Champions’. The event, hosted by Damian Hinds MP, Minister of State for Schools, celebrated teachers who have made outstanding contributions to their schools.
Dean used this opportunity to recognise and thank the hardworking schools in Watford for their exceptional efforts in providing such wonderful and varied opportunities for their pupils.
Following the event, Dean said, ‘I was delighted to nominate Cheska and Michael as community education champions. They have both shown exceptional dedication to their schools, and I was pleased to introduce them to the Minister who also thanked them for the hard work. The event showcased the really great impact that education leaders make on schools and communities, and this was reflected across the UK’.
Cheska Tyler said, ‘It was an absolute privilege to be invited to No10 and be recognised by Dean for the important work that we do for our Watford community at Cherry Tree and across the Inclusive MAT. I hope our children see this as a celebration of their community and it both reminds and encourages them to work hard, be brave and aim high as they don't yet know what they might achieve in their futures’.
Michael Jones said, ‘‘Thank you for your kind invitation to join you and Damian Hinds MP at 10 Downing Street, and to accompany you on a tour of Parliament afterwards. It was such a great opportunity to see British politics in action as well as network and discuss the challenges we are all facing in Watford around children with Special Educational Needs in mainstream schools. I am also really grateful for your putting leaders from the Secondary and Primary sectors together’.
The event provided a unique chance to showcase the positive impact of education on communities, highlighting the importance of collaboration between schools, leaders, and their representatives.
