I had the pleasure of meeting researchers working on the latest breakthroughs and campaigners helping to deliver change in Watford and throughout the UK.
In the UK, survival has doubled in the last 40 years and today, 2 in 4 people survive their cancer for at least 10 years. Cancer Research UK’s ambition is to accelerate progress so that by 2034, 3 in 4 people will survive their cancer for at least a decade.
1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. We all have a part to play to help beat it, because if the worst happens, we can help to save the lives of more people in Watford and across the UK.
2022 is a special year for Cancer Research UK, as it marks 20 years since the charity was formed. However, its history goes back much further, to 1902, with the founding of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund – meaning its work has been at the heart of some of the biggest developments in cancer, including some of the most used cancer drugs around the world today.
