Congratulations to the amazing volunteers who organised Herts Pride. I was so pleased to play a small part by volunteering with a great group of people. Pleased to chat to lots of residents & organisations. Thanks to Oliver Cooper and Cllr Shanti Maru for helping on the stand. It was great to see Tony Kingsbury, Leader of Welwyn Hatfield Council at the event today. We enjoyed catching up and talking about local issues.
The Herts Police team were in attendance to talk to local residents, and I had the opportunity to thank them for their hard work. As the Local Watford MP, I work closely with the Police and David Lloyd - the Hertfordshire Police & Crime Commissioner.
Harry The Hornet was also in attendance! Harry is the proud mascot of Watford FC. I was also pleased to see an original Elton John outfit which was at the Watford Museum Stand.
It was lovely to chat to Caroline Powell from A Slice of Happiness. This wonderful organisation supports people who are struggling with their mental health in our community who are unemployed, on universal credit or facing redundancy.
I had a chance to pop along to the Hertfordshire Mind stand to talk about the vital work they do for our residents. I am looking forward to visiting the 'Nighttime Support'. I also visited the Alzheimer's Society stand. They support families with loved ones who have Dementia and Alzheimers. I was very pleased to see that the Government announced this week further funding for research in this area. It's vital we find a cure.
I also enjoyed spending time with Councillor Richard Roberts, Conservative Leader of Hertfordshire County Council. I work closely with Richard on Council enquiries which are raised with me by constituents. And finally, I throughly enjoyed a tremendous special Pride Ice Cream from the Tonino Van. This was an absolutely superb event. Once again thank you to the organisers!
