I recently took part in a dawn raid with Watford Police officers as they carried out their heroic duties to find and stop criminal gangs who blight our communities with illegal and often dangerous activities. Their preparation and professionalism ensured the process was carried out safely. However, as I stood behind the officers wearing my stab proof vest, I considered what support was in place for them once they had carried out their duties engaging in potentially dangerous situations.
I am pleased I had the opportunity today to raise this with the Minister of State for Crime, Policing and Fire, Chris Philp. The Minister confirmed the ongoing support available through his work with the Police Covenant Board, the Police Federation and the support provided to serving and retired officers with a new Chief Medical Officer.
