Dean Russell met with David Lloyd, Hertfordshire’s elected Police and Crime Commissioner, to discuss speeding and dangerous driving in Watford.
One of the initiatives introduced by Hertfordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner is the use of Road Safety Camera Vans. These are four vehicles that can be deployed to areas in response to public requests for more action to be taken against motorists who exceed the speed limit.
Dean met with David to see one of the vans in action on the A405 following concerns raised by several Watford residents about cars exceeding the speed limit on that road.
Following his meeting with David Lloyd, Dean said “I was pleased to meet with David Lloyd to talk to him about how to make Watford’s roads safer, and in particular how to reduce the problem of speeding on roads such as the A405. Speeding is a leading cause of road deaths in the UK which is frustrating as it is so easily avoidable. Saving a few minutes of travel time is simply not worth it, speed limits are in place for a reason.”
David Lloyd said “I think it is really important that when we’ve got local people claiming that there are problems on the roads, we use the Road Safety Fund. We need to respond to the concerns that the public have regarding road safety issues and that is why Dean and I visited the A405 today to look at the problems that there are.”
