Watford MP Dean Russell was invited by the local DWP team to speak to a small group of budding Watford entrepreneurs about how best to ensure their business can thrive during a roundtable at the local Job Centre in the town centre.
Attendees spoke about the challenge of self-employment often being quite lonely, particularly at the start without colleagues to share ideas with. Increasing pressures due to the cost of living were also discussed.
Speaking after the session Dean said “Small, local business are the backbone of our economy. There are over four million self-employed people in the UK, all making a huge contribution not just to our economy but creating employment opportunities for others.
Watford has a proud history of supporting independent business, some companies have been a fixture on our high street for many years, and it is vital that other people looking to set up a business have access to support and expertise. I met some incredible individuals at this session who are clearly passionate about their businesses, and I wish them every success."
