Watford MP Dean Russell co-hosted the annual Watford Jobs Fair, which once again took place at the Watford Job Centre Plus.
The Watford Jobs Fair is a great opportunity for individuals who are receiving Universal Credit payments to be able to visit a wide range of great employers all in one place. It is not just an opportunity to secure employment, but to receive advice on how to upskill themselves in order to advance their career further.
Over 30 employers attended the Jobs Fair, including KFC, HMCTS, Smyths Toys and Warner Bros. There was also support for those looking to improve their interview skills or hoping to update their CV as they look to enter the workforce.
Dean spoke to representatives from a variety of businesses to thank them for taking the time to exhibit, and also spoke to many of the attendees to learn more about their experience with securing employment.
Following the event, Dean said, “It was great to see so many employers in attendance. Watford is a thriving town, for example Beech House has very recently opened on the High St and a new cocktail bar called Barrio will be opening later this month. It is fantastic that businesses want to come to Watford, and I very much welcome the jobs and investment that come with it.
I would like to put on record my thanks to the Job Centre staff for helping, not just today but all year round. It was announced earlier this week that UK unemployment has fallen to lowest level since 1974, and this is thanks to DWP staff across the country. Through our Plan for Jobs, the whole of the UK Government is focused on protecting, supporting, and creating jobs across the country.”
