Local MP Dean Russell visited the Abbots Langley Veterans Support Group to meet with veterans and their loved ones.
The Royal British Legion is the UK's leading Armed Forces charity and one of its largest membership organisations. Members get together through the network of branches and clubs all over the country and overseas to participate in social, fundraising and welfare activities.
The Abbots Langley Branch meets at The Working Mens Club on Trowley Rise in Abbots Langley on the first Monday of the month.
The group was set up by Liz Burns following the passing of her husband who served 27 years with the Royal Marines Police Force. Les Vertessy, the Abbots Langley Poppy Appeal organiser also attended.
Speaking after the visit Dean said “Thank you to both Liz and Les for having me, and it was great to meet some new faces. I have worked with Liz since being elected in 2019 and I commend the work that she does to ensure veterans and their loved ones have support. The work that Les does with the poppy appeal also raises vital funds for The Royal British Legion.
We are forever indebted to our veterans and it was a pleasure to be able to spend some time with them this morning.”
