Local MP Dean Russell met with Google as their ‘Digital Garage’ arrived in Watford to provide a day of free digital skills workshops and mentoring to help local people and small businesses upskill and grow in a hybrid world.
Launched in 2015, Google’s Digital Garage programme has trained over 800,000 people, in more than 500 cities, towns and villages across the UK. Residents and business owners based in Watford were invited to join Google for a day of free workshops and mentoring sessions on topics such as digital marketing strategy and writing for social media
There were a host of workshops at all experience levels, from 45-minute in depth training to 15-minute power sessions, alongside interactive networking opportunities. Attendees from small businesses could also benefit from private mentoring sessions with Google’s Digital Coaches to focus on personal goals for their business growth. This is one of more than 30 in-person digital skills training events taking place across the country to help get small businesses growing and drive growth across the UK.
Dean Russell, Member of Parliament for Watford commented “It was great to welcome Google in Watford for part of their Google Digital Garage tour. I was really pleased to see so many local businesses and residents attend to hear from Google’s fantastic Digital Garage trainers, and I enjoyed meeting a number of local businesses and residents, to hear about how they plan to use the skills learnt today, and to see first-hand the importance of improving digital skills”.
