Mayfield Watford, the new retirement village, celebrated the completion of its latest construction milestone by completing the weatherproofing of the roof with a Topping Out ceremony on Friday 17th September.
Nick Sanderson, CEO of Audley Group, welcomed Dean Russell MP to the site along with other distinguished guests including, Leo Quinn, Group Chief Executive, Balfour Beatty, property purchasers and representatives from Blackrock Real Estate and Homes England. The guests were treated to speeches from Dean and Leo. Leo then handed Nick a ceremonial spade with which to plant the tree that signified the topping out. This was followed by afternoon tea and refreshments.
Mayfield Watford will provide stylish, high quality retirement living and a strong sense of community, while enabling owners to maintain their lifestyle. It will be the first village in the UK to address the increasing demand for modern, mainstream, mid-market retirement options. Out of the properties that have already gone to market c30% have already been sold or reserved.
Nick Sanderson, CEO of Audley Group, said: “The completion of the external building phase of Mayfield Watford is a proud moment for many of us. There is a real lack of villages like this in the UK, and a growing older population that deserve better choices. We are delighted to have brought that choice to those living in and around the Watford area, and to be part of this incredible regeneration programme in Watford Riverwell.
“The ceremony today was a nice chance to celebrate the achievements of all those who are working on the project, from tradesmen to architects. We are looking forward to completing the internal fit out and welcoming our first Mayfield owners to this fantastic village”
Dean Russell, MP for Watford, said, “It’s been a really enjoyable day and I’m pleased to be here to mark the next step in such an important development. Mayfield Watford will bring much needed age-appropriate housing, importantly with care facilities available, to the town. It’s something we need so much more of. The facilities also look magnificent – I, for one, can’t wait to pop back when it is open to enjoy the bistro, having sampled some of the food on offer today.”
Mayfield Villages is part of the Audley Group, the leading provider of luxury retirement villages. It will be home to 255 apartments centred around the Mayfield Club, which will include a buzzing bar, café-bistro, swimming pool, village hall, fitness rooms and spa. Mayfield owners will automatically become members of the club, and the facilities will also be available to those in the local community. A selection of one and two bedroom apartments will be available for purchase, with one bedroom properties starting from £299,950
