Dean Russell MP is pleased to support National Sport Week and hopes that many schools will get involved as sport has many physical and mental benefits for young people.
Dean commented, 'the charity has spent more than 25 years researching innovative ways of promoting sport to aid and improve the lives of children to give them tremendous opportunities for a bright future. The theme of this year's week is 'Together Again' and is celebrating children being back in school which helps promote their health and wellbeing. I am delighted that the Government has confirmed the PE and School Sport Premium for the next Academic Year'.
The organisers are challenging schools, parents and communities to get involved either within the school setting, or at home.
Dean continued, 'this is a totally free UK wide campaign, which is open to everyone. I would urge schools and groups to visit youthsporttrust.org and learn how to get involved this year, and plan for next year! The website is packed full of information on how to organise events successfully and safely and how to bring people together through sport. I am delighted that there is a real push to empower young people and give them the confidence to organise sporting events.
