Having children is one of the most precious experiences in life. However, every year over 90,000 babies born are either sick or premature and must be cared for in neonatal units.
Some of these babies get better quickly but others can remain on these wards for months, with 40% of parents of hospitalised babies having anxiety or post-traumatic stress.
That is why the Neonatal Care Bill is so important.
Two new rights would be introduced that would guarantee additional leave and pay for those with children in neonatal care, to ensure parents can focus on their child and not worry about having to get back to work.
